The Upstairs Room Has No Timetable

楼上的休息室，不需要时间表

Upstairs at Sojourn is a shared lounge with a wooden floor and chairs. It is not a famous Taiping landmark. Nobody needs to tick it off a list. That may be the nicest thing about it.

晓客栈楼上有一间共用休息室，木地板、几张椅子。它不是太平著名景点，也不必列入打卡清单。也许，这正是它可爱的地方。

A traveller can plan every minute of a day: breakfast, the old streets, the lake, another cup of coffee. Yet a journey also needs time with no destination. A chair gives that time somewhere to land.

旅人可以把一天排得满满：早餐、老街、湖边，再喝一杯咖啡。可是旅行也需要一段没有目的地的时间。一张椅子，恰好让那段时间有地方安放。

Unlike a ticketed attraction, a shared room has no performance to begin on the hour. There may be a book, a quiet conversation or simply the sound of someone returning from outside. The room is useful precisely because nothing important is supposed to happen.

不像买票入场的景点，共用空间没有整点开演。也许有人读书、轻声交谈，或者只是听见另一个旅人从街上回来的脚步声。这房间的用途，就是容许什么大事都不发生。

An old-town stay is not only about what you see outdoors. It is also about the interval before you go out again. In a town where a sudden shower can rearrange a walk, an unhurried room is a good companion.

住在老城，不只是看窗外的风景，也包括两段行程之间的空白。太平的雨有时会改写散步计划，这样一间不催人的房间，倒很懂得陪伴。
