Merdeka Weekend in Perak: Festival Kraf Continues Through 6 September
For guests staying in Taiping this week, the Perak state Merdeka-eve celebration in Ipoh has concluded, while Festival Kraf Perak in Teluk Intan continues through 6 September.
30 August: Perak State Merdeka Eve Celebration
Tourism Perak listed the Sambutan Ambang Merdeka x Festival Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah 2026 at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru, Ipoh. The event ran from 8:00 PM on 30 August until 1:00 AM on 31 August with free admission.
This week: Festival Kraf Perak 2026
Festival Kraf Perak 2026 is running at Dataran Menara Condong in Teluk Intan from 29 August to 6 September, daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Tourism Perak describes local craft products, activities and craft demonstrations, with free admission.
Planning from Taiping
If you prefer to keep the weekend slow, Taiping itself remains the easier base: the old town, Lake Gardens, food streets and heritage buildings are all close to Sojourn. The events elsewhere in Perak are best treated as optional side trips rather than reasons to rush through Taiping.
