Raintown Film Festival 2026: Taiping’s Screen-to-Street Weekend, 4–6 September
Raintown Film Festival 2026 runs in Taiping from 4 to 6 September. The main screenings are at Paragon Cinemas, Taiping Mall, with a programme connecting Malaysian cinema to Taiping’s heritage, stories and landscape.
What guests should know
The third Raintown Film Festival takes place from Friday 4 September to Sunday 6 September 2026 at Paragon Cinemas, Taiping Mall. The programme includes four feature films associated with Taiping, 20 shortlisted short films, a film talk, Q&A sessions and a guided Bukit Larut activity.
Cinema Online states that festival tickets are free through CloudJoi, while individual CloudJoi listings checked by Sojourn show RM0.00, subject to seat availability. One verified example is Amir Muhammad’s Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow…and Tomorrow on Sunday 6 September at 2:00 PM, followed by a Q&A with the director.

More than a cinema weekend
Raintown uses Taiping itself as part of the experience. Film, local history, culture and place are woven together, making the weekend especially suitable for visitors who want to walk the old town rather than spend the whole trip inside a cinema.

Start with a slow morning around Jalan Kota and the old town, then head to Taiping Mall for your registered screening. If you have more time, keep Lake Gardens or Bukit Larut for a separate half-day rather than trying to fit everything between films.
